First of all, I want to thank everyone for all of your sweet comments on my previous post. I can't express how much each and every comment has made me smile.
Second, I apologize for the wacky format of these posts and photos. I've yet to pull out my MacBook or SLR for "real" photos or posts.. So far, everything has been done from my iPhone...yes, all this typed from my phone while Lyla is sleeping, and while I've been wide awake at nearly 4am. I noticed a few photos aren't showing in full...If you click each photo, the full photo should pop up. Also, thanks to my mom and my sister for loaning to me their point and shoot cameras. I can't wait to upload and sort through all of those photos as well.
Little Miss Lyla is doing absolutely great. She sleeps like an angel and eats perfectly on schedule about every four hours. So far, she's not at all a fussy baby...(keeping fingers crossed that things stay that way ;). She only gets worked up during a diaper change, or if you mess much with her hands, which are constantly at the sides of her face or near her mouth. We've tried our hardest to keep mittens or socks on her hands to prevent scratching, but she always successfully manages to wiggle them off. The fold over sleeves on a few of her onesies and gowns have been the only way to keep those sweet little fingers from scratching away.
Brayden was having a bit of a difficult time in the very beginning, worrying about the IV in my hand and being concerned for us having to stay in the hospital, but he is doing well now that he is starting to understand what all is going on. It took him until late last night to climb in the bed with me and acknowledge Lyla and give her kisses.
Today, upon arriving at the hospital, he climbed right up in my bed and told me about how he missed all of us, and he sat and ate lunch at my tray with me while other family members were occupied with Ly. And again, before leaving for the night, he made his way back up to love on Lyla, only tonight he was much more comfortable. He sang to her, showed her an elephant toy he picked out and begged to hold her all by hisself. ;) The entire time he kept insisting he didn't need help from neither me or Travis, and griped at Trav's hand being behind Ly's head. ;)
Before leaving with Trav's parents, he gave her many kisses and said goodnight prayers to her. The smile still hasn't gone from my face. Seeing him interact with her is the most valuable thing in the world to me.
As far as how things have been for me.. I was able to get out of bed today and move around, sit up straighter, and do a little walking...which is a big difference from my first c-section I had with Brayden. Overall, the entire process the second time has been far easier. The hospital staff and many family and friends have been such a great help since the minute we arrived. We are hoping to be discharged on Friday morning and home and settled for our first weekend home with baby sister. :)
I'll return with our birth story from start to finish (including Trav's reaction/experience in the operating room ;) as soon as I get the photos from my mom and sisters cameras uploaded.
Again, thank you everyone for your kind comments and support. Baby Lyla is truly a blessing to our family.
